Compatibility & requirements

Platforms, PHP versions and databases the extension supports, plus native Hyvä support.

The extension runs on Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source. Here is everything it needs.

Supported versions

Component Supported versions
Adobe Commerce / Magento 2.4.6, 2.4.7+
PHP 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4
Database MySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.6+

Why Magento 2.4.6 is the floor

The requirement tracks Adobe’s official support schedule: the extension is built for the Magento versions Adobe actively supports, so every store running it is on a platform Adobe actively patches and supports, secure and PCI-eligible, with current APIs. That is a deliberate commitment, not a limitation. A supported Magento is a safer and faster home for your customer data, and it is what lets the integration stay robust release after release.

You do not need to chase the newest version. Staying on a supported release (2.4.6 or later) and applying Adobe’s official security patches is a fully supported path; 2.4.7 and 2.4.8 offer the longest runway under Adobe’s software lifecycle policy (three years of standard support per version, plus an optional extended year). If your store runs an older Magento, the classic ebizmarts Mailchimp extension continues to serve it.

Hyvä logo Hyvä: supported natively

The extension supports Hyvä natively. No compatibility module, no Luma fallback, no extra setup. The storefront pieces (the Mailchimp Pixel and guest email capture) are dependency-free JavaScript, so they run as-is on Luma, on Hyvä themes and on Hyvä Checkout, including its dynamic checkout steps.

Mailchimp’s official integration page says the same: Hyvä theme and checkout work out of the box, no patches, no workarounds.

Admin pages are independent of your storefront theme; the admin always runs Magento’s standard theme.

Pulse Core

The extension ships with Pulse Core, ebizmarts’ own behavioral engine for Magento: lean by design, it records storefront activity server side, in your own database, so tracking keeps working even for visitors with ad blockers. The clever part is identity resolution: the moment a shopper types an email at checkout or in a newsletter form, or logs in, Pulse connects their cart and their browsing to that email, including what they did before identifying themselves. That is how a guest’s abandoned cart reaches Mailchimp ready to recover, with no account and no completed checkout needed. Pulse makes no external calls of its own; data only leaves your store when the Mailchimp sync sends it. Composer installs it automatically; manual installs need Ebizmarts_PulseCore first.

OpenMage / Magento 1

This extension is for Magento 2 and Adobe Commerce only. OpenMage and Magento 1 are not supported.

Only one Mailchimp extension at a time

If you used the previous ebizmarts Mailchimp extension, the two do not run at the same time. This extension checks one thing: the old extension’s own Enabled setting. Switch the old one off (the migration flow does this for you) and syncing starts. Uninstalling the old extension is never required; its code and data can stay in place.

See Move over from the previous extension for the one-step path.

Questions along the way? Troubleshooting has the answers, and ebizmarts support is one email away.
